Tracy 168
TRACY 168 (1958-) (real name Michael Tracy) is an American graffiti artist.
TRACY 168 was born Michael Tracy in 1958 at New York Hospital on E.68 Street. He is a well known 'Oldschool writer' from New York. He was known as one of the kings of graffiti and started the Wildstyle〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Graffiti Wall Art by Michael Tracy, TRACY 168, Graffiti WiLDSTYLE, Bronx, NYC Wall Murals, Subway Art )〕 style of graffiti. He is featured extensively in the documentary Just to Get a Rep and discusses WiLDSTYLE and the troubled relationship between graffiti and the established art world.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Just to Get a Rep - graffiti/hip-hop documentary - Deluxe Edition )〕 In July 2006, an art piece by Tracy 168 in 1984 utilized a real subway car door and showcased his piece on it. The piece was shown at the Brooklyn Museum of Art during their month-long exhibit, "Graffiti. 〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Michael Tracy - Crazy Tracy - 1984 )〕 "Tracy" was the mentor to many street and graffiti artists, Keith Haring, Steve Ogburn (a.k.a."Blade"), Fernando Carlo Jr (a.k.a. "Cope 2"), Julius Cavero (a.k.a. "T-Kid 170), Terry Duke (a.k.a. "Bozzy Boz") and Dan Rauch (a.k.a. "Dan Plasma"). Despite appearing in major gallery and museum shows "Tracy" maintains a solid street presence with his classic graffiti murals in Brooklyn and the Bronx, where he currently resides.
